A Look at Breathe

Breathe is a Bible class like you have never seen it before! Here, we’ll look at what it is, and where the name and logo come from.

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

2 Peter 3:18

We would like every young person who comes into contact with Breathe not only to grow in their knowledge of Jesus, but also in their relationship with Him, so that by the time they leave  they leave encouraged and equipped to glorify Him with their lives, for the rest of their lives.

Why the gasmask logo and the name?

The gasmask signifies that our young people live in a polluted, dirty sinful world. And the mask is to provide the picture that we as the  team want to help them filter out all of that pollution, so that they can  the unpolluted freshness of Christ in their daily live.

You may have noticed that the picture of the mask has been taken under X-ray. Why?

This pictures the fact that Christian lives should be transparent, see through. The people around us should be able to see Jesus working in and through our lives just as if our lives were being held under an X-ray.

The name has two reasons both which can be found in the physical act of breathing.

Firstly, when we breathe in our bodies receive the oxygen they need to function properly. This pictures the discipleship of the young people. As the breathers take in more of Jesus, spiritually they receive what they need to function properly.

Secondly, something always happens when we breathe in, even down to our very last breath (except if under water). The last thing we do here on earth is to breathe out. This is to make the point that a key part of discipleship is to Jesus out to those around us.

So who is it for?

Breathe is for anyone who is S1 – S4 in Secondary school, and who are present in the Sunday morning service.
